VIETNAMESE: Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant, 16-3777 Strandherd Dr., Nepean ON Food we tried: saturday night dinner. Beef noodle soup, medium #202. Soup had tender beef, & thin egg noodles. Broth was OK but didn't taste rich and flavourful, almost as if it wasn't simmered long enough for the full flavour of the oxtail to shine through. stir-fried chicken and beef with rice noodles, menu item medium C-04. Shredded beef & chicken , bean sprouts, onions, baby bok choy, wide flat rice noodles. Sauce was a mixture of hoisen, fish, oyster, and soy sauces, with a potato starch to thicken it; very tasty and rich. Good portion if you're hungry- get the large if you're really hungry. Interior: decor decent, clean and tidy surfaces and furnishings. Price: the menu overall had average prices compared to most Vietnamese restaurants. Overall: not a great tasting beef noodle soup broth but decent; used to be better when the restaurant first opened a few years back. Stir-fried rice noodle dish tasty, and nice and hearty. Service was OK although the staff often comes across as nonchalant as we've eaten there previously. Overall decent value for the price.
