BOOMERS, RETIREMENT, MEDICARE AND PUBLICLY FUNDED BENEFITS

As a member of the Baby Boomers nearing retirement age, I am also concerned about facing the uncertainties of retiring –
including future cost of health care, low investment returns on retirement funds, and the prospect of “living on less”.

I propose we lower the Medicare age to 62 to encourage retirement of the aging baby boomers.  Many of us are holding down
good paying jobs in order to receive employer provided health care.  I firmly believe many of us would retire at 62 if Medicare were
to step in where our employer plans stopped at retirement.  This “early retirement” of many of the baby boomers would (and
should) open up many job opportunities for a younger generation of workers who are anxiously waiting for us to do
just that – RETIRE.

In connection with lowering the Medicare age to 62, I believe the federal government should mandate healthcare providers accept
Medicare payments as “payment in full” for the services they provide.  Why should we have to be concerned about purchasing a
Medicare Supplement Insurance product from a private “for profit” insurance company in our retirement?  I believe the premiums
charged for these policies and the limits placed on the services covered by these policies to be an opportunistic fraud of the
American public.

Another area of concern … publicly funded retirement benefits!!!  It is time to examine the benefits promised to public retirees that
can’t possibly be funded with future tax dollars because the current high costs of health care weren’t factored in when the
“promises” were made years ago.  "Public employees with bargaining powers" is no more than "taxation without
representation" for the private citizen.  If we find ourselves in the situation where we have more publicly-employed citizens
than privately-employed citizens, then we find out that these "bargaining units" have the ability to vote themselves a
raise ... and this will spell the end of democracy as we once knew it.  Hat’s off to the Wisconsin governor!  It is unfair to expect
future taxpayers – our kids! – to pay for the unrealistic and costly “promises” made by their fathers and grandfathers years ago.

Smoking Rooms
It just burns my bacon that why can't they make smoking room in public places. It peeves me to see innocent people outside in
winter or any kind of weather just to enjoy a peaceful smoke. Hey....I know it's wrong to smoke,But it's getting so obnoxious that
the U.S.A. can't let people do what they want to do. Smoking rooms will be good for two reasons: 1:People won't have to face the
natural elements of the weather. 2:people can enjoy a good smoke inside a heated room with smoking vents and  smokeless
ashtrays. I figure it this way.... Why fight the elements, go inside take your coat off relax, and have a good smoke, you deserve it.

The economy
we think that one of the most important things we need to do is make the big there automakers should make it easier for people
to purchase cars. the average low income person could help these automakers by purchasing cars.in turn, the more cars that
will be sold will help bail out the auto industry. in 1977 you could purchase a base line car for arould 4 grand. theres no sence in
producing cars that are so equiped with all the unessary options. produce cars that provide transportation no luxury. if you want
luxury stay home and watch your widesreen tv. cars are for transportation not a hotel stay.the big there could produce cheaper
cars instead of trying to make cars even baseline cars that cost are extere. for instance, the big 3 could produce baseline
automobiles that are designed for getting to and from work or the grocery store. we have always been taught the more abundant
that a product is, the should be less. example if a grocer has too many apples than !
he can sell, then the way to sell them is to reduce the price. i think the big 3 could bail themselves out if they would produce a car
the average american afford.car payments that are in the 100 to 200 dollar range would boost more sales and help the american
and also bail out the big 3. the auto workers make more money in one day than most people make in a month. there is
something wrong will this picture. even people with less than perfect credit could purchase a car. in closing i think that we need
to get back to the basics, learn whats more important a 30,000 dollar car or food ,a warm place to live. those top guys should
have to live on a below average income and se how it fells when you have to rob peter to pay paul. thank you

The "Ultimate Truth"
Today, during the two hour walking of my dog, that I do everyday, I was thinking about Junior year and I remembered this
assignment Dr. Pierce gave us at the end of the year when we sudied philosophy. He wanted us to come up with a metaphor
explaining what we though  the "ultimate truth" or otherwise known as "the meaning of life" is.
Well, I really got to thinking about it today on my walk.
At these feilds I walk my doggie at, there is this flock of about 6 or 7 creepy, huge turkey vultures that fly around and there is this
little pond that a bunch of frogs live in. I began to think about being at the verge of death, Why is it that even when an organsim
such as a frog about to be eatin by these birds continue to fight for it's life when it knows that it is inevitable to avoid death and
even if it does escape today it will die one day anyways, so why prolong it? Well really in the case of the frog it just would be sear
instinct, but what about in the case of a human?
That can't be the same case for humans, I mean we do base some of it on instinct, but then what about suicides?  What gives
people the will to live?
I came to this conclusion. (this is the part where I'm probably going to be bad at explaining)
There is no "ultimate truth", it's man-made, but there is a meaning to each of our individual lives. We all have our reason's to live
and I think we only truly discover it the moments before we die, you know, when they say "your whole life flashes before your
eyes."
If there is an "ultimate truth" I think it would just simply be "to live". Why must we need to know the reason for why the human race
exists? We are here aren't we? Why look for something that is better left unsaid, unknown.
I think the truth is never meant to be known, but just to simply exist, to give us the knowledge that we are always meant to exist to
keep our race going.
So when you ask why am I here, what is my purpose?  The answer is simply to live and experience life .Instead you should be
asking, What
kind of life do I want to live and who do I want to be?
I believe, Humans were givin this great gift known as free will. Therefore, life is what you make it, you give it what meaning you
want meaning you want it to have.
Everyone has a reason to be here because everyone makes an impact on somebody and I can tell you every person I have ever
met has certainly had some kind of impact of influence upon me.
Everyone's reason for being here is unique and diffrent, just like how each of us is diffrent and unique from each other. You are
your own artist to your peice of art. The same idea can be applied to your life.
Life is what you make it, make it count!
